Guide

Important

The IFC Fert Calculator calculates quantities based on the information entered by the user. It does not determine whether different compounds are chemically compatible or suitable for mixing together in the same stock solution. Some compounds may react, precipitate, become unstable, or reduce the availability of nutrients when combined. In particular, calcium sources should generally be kept separate from sulfate and carbonate/bicarbonate sources, while magnesium sources should be kept separate from carbonate/bicarbonate sources. Potassium and sodium salts are usually more compatible, but solubility and concentration must still be checked.

It is the user’s responsibility to check compatibility, solubility, handling requirements, and safe mixing practices before preparing any fertilizer solution.

The calculator’s results should be treated as calculation guidance only. They should not be interpreted as a recommendation to mix particular compounds together.

Tank & Dosing

Tank & Dosing is the starting point. It collects the tank volume or dimensions, water-change context where needed, and the dosing regime before opening the calculator path you selected.

Core Settings

Core Settings can be used to adjust global assumptions such as water report values, hydrate choices, solubility levels, and compound costs. The calculators then use those shared settings to keep the workflow consistent.

Calculators

Target

Design a clone from a known commercial fertilizer or build a fertilizer from your own PPM or weight targets.

Trace

For advanced users creating micro mixes, with PPM and gram input options.

Remineralization

Design a remineralizing agent by cloning a known product or targeting dGH, dKH, Ca:Mg ratio, and potassium.

Summary Pages

Each calculator has a Summary page that brings together the calculated results, warnings, instructions, costs, and notes. Use it to review the final calculation or print it.

Legend

Target and Remineralization
85%The solution is approaching the selected solubility threshold.
97%The solution has reached at least 95% of the selected solubility threshold.
12.50Target only: Do not add this compound to the container; use dry dosing instead.
12.50The dry dose may not fully dissolve in the aquarium.
Trace
0.02Solubility is exceeded; follow the instruction displayed in the calculator.
0.02Serial dilution is advised for the highlighted stock-solution amount.
0.02The highlighted amount is below the configured scale readability or accuracy threshold.
